What’s the difference between Gold, Silver & Bronze Private Coaching packages?2018-06-05T14:14:33-04:00

Please feel free to visit the PRIVATE COACHING page to view the differences about the various coaching tiers.

BRONZE (lite) – Athletes receive a weekly training plan uploaded to Final Surge but interaction with me is limited to the initial Assessment. To reiterate, athletes are able to upload training data i.e. Garmin and record workout notes to their Final Surge profile but ongoing access via email or phone is excluded. If you feel like you need help organizing your goals and refining your training but are confident managing and executing a training program on your own, Bronze is for you. The Bronze package allows for very limited access to your coach – the training plan is all yours to manage. If you feel like you may require a more hands-on approach, consider the SILVER package.

SILVER (standard) – Silver is by-far the most popular package offered. All of the features of the Bronze package are included in the Silver package with two big exceptions – athletes are offered unlimited access to ask questions and advice about anything (running-related) via email or in-app messaging within Final Surge on an ongoing basis. With Silver, you are free to send as many or as few emails as you like. Silver also includes a pre-race preparation and race-day strategy i.e. a mile by mile approach to your race course as well as post race recovery protocol.

GOLD (premium) – The big advantage to the Gold ‘premium’ package above what is already offered in Bronze and Silver: two 30-minute conference or video calls each month to discuss progress, scheduling and refine training on an ongoing basis. A truly hands on approach!

What payment methods do you support?2019-03-06T23:44:48-04:00

Short answer: All major credit cards are accepted – including MasterCard, Visa, Discover and American Express.

Long answer: I manage all billing directly through an online payments processor called Stripe which, as you may know, is similar to PayPal. Stripe has been audited by a PCI-certified auditor and is certified to PCI Service Provider Level 1. This is the most stringent level of certification available in the payments industry. To accomplish this, Stripe makes use of best-in-class security tools and practices to maintain the highest level of protection.

How does this work? The first month of Private Coaching will be prorated and the first payment is due on the date coaching services are activated. In subsequent months, you will receive an email on the first calendar day of each month inclusive of a direct link to remit payment. After the first month of service, payment is due on the 7th calendar day (one week after the invoice is received).

Do you coach ultra runners (or distances greater than the marathon)?2019-03-26T10:57:56-04:00

No. I have very little ultra running experience and, therefore, prefer to focus my attention on the distances for which I have extensive training, knowledge and experience – such as the marathon and below. Because there are so many critical nuances relevant to the ultra distance races, I feel you would be better served with a coach who focuses on these distances as both an athlete and a coach themselves. Good luck!

I am a very competitive runner. Would I be a good fit on the GB Running client roster?2019-03-26T10:56:52-04:00

Indeed. While our roster of athletes represents a full range of running talent and experience – fast clients are welcome here! There are currently elite runners on the client roster seeking Olympic Trials qualifying standards in the marathon. In the past we’ve had clients finish in the top of their age group, others who have won their age group or have won races outright and those who have finished as a top Americans in the NYC Marathon. Fast is fun!

What if I have questions before I sign up?2018-05-08T11:23:06-04:00

If you have any questions that have not been answered here on the site, please feel free to contact me  at any time. I’d be delighted to discuss running/coaching with you. Furthermore, if I’m not the right match for you perhaps I could recommend you to another coach in the area?

I’m not a fast runner, is your coaching right for me?2018-05-08T11:23:06-04:00

Absolutely! I work with runners at the back, middle and front of the pack and have done so for several years. If you are goal-oriented and committed to your training then I’m here to help, no matter what your pace. Ideally, runners should expect to run 30-35 miles per week in peak mileage weeks when preparing for a marathon.

If I sign up for Private Coaching, and something (illness, life stress, work, injury) arises and I need to hault my training – what happens?2019-03-26T10:55:57-04:00

Sometimes, life happens. We will place your program “on hold” until you return. While you’re away from training, you are credited for any unused weeks and your billing begins again when you decide to return. Because our coaching roster fills up from time to time, we’ll also save a spot for you when you are able to return.

What if I don’t want to compete/race but I would like to train for myself? Is that ok?2018-05-08T11:23:06-04:00

Of course! I coach athletes of all abilities and, while many of my runners are not competitive, they still desire coaching guidance. I will provide you with both the knowledge and framework of your program, as well as the encouragement for you to succeed.

What is the reason for the runner questionnaire?2018-05-08T11:23:06-04:00

I understand the questionnaire is lengthy but the more I know about you at the outset, the better equipped I will be to get you started with your training.Specificity of training is paramount to an improvement in running fitness, therefore, getting to know you as best I can is critical. No two clients are alike and where I feel I can add value is to customize training not only to your current fitness and your ability but also to your schedule and needs as a person. There are four sections to the questionnaire but they each contain valuable information to help me better understand your needs and expectations. Upon submission, I will contact you via email to suggest how we might begin together.

Do you coach triathletes?2018-05-08T11:23:06-04:00

No. While I have competed as a triathlete, myself, and have even paced private clients through triathlon races – I do not consider myself a multi-sport coach. I have served as a coaching assistant for the JackRabbit Sports (NYC) triathlon training program, and I am happy to help multi-sport athletes with their running. However, running (i.e. 5k, 10k, half marathons, marathons) remains my focus. If you require a comprehensive triathlon training program including all three disciplines simultaneously (swimming, biking, running) I would suggest hiring Jonathan Cane of City Coach, a multi-sport specific coach.

What is your cancellation policy?2019-03-26T22:45:14-04:00

In fairness to all clients, this policy is in effect regardless of the reason for the cancellation. You acknowledge that you have read and understand the cancellation policy for GB Running, LLC as described above. Thank you for your understanding and cooperation.

Are there contracts for a minimum number of training weeks?2019-03-26T11:06:12-04:00

There are no contracts! In fact, you may begin or end Private Coaching at any time. As a courtesy, the first month of Private Coaching will be prorated to your start date. The final month of Private Coaching will conclude on the last calendar day of the month of cancellation.

Is the waiver mandatory?2018-05-08T11:23:06-04:00

A signed WAIVER AND RELEASE OF LIABILITY AND INDEMNIFICATION is required by all clients of GB Running, LLC prior to activation of all services and before training may begin. All waivers are mandatory.
